Bulldozer Used to Demolish Ashwani Kumar’s House; Medical Store Set on Fire
A medical store belonging to Ashwani Kumar, accused of shooting dead Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa, was set on fire by an agitated mob on Wednesday afternoon. Earlier, angry youths had vandalised the medical store. They reportedly took control of a JCB machine and operated it themselves to begin demolishing the shop. Subsequently, they poured fuel on the premises and set it ablaze. Police officers and personnel were unable to control the enraged crowd.

Meanwhile, later in the afternoon, Ashwani Kumar’s house was demolished under police supervision using a bulldozer. The Punjab government has previously demolished the houses of several alleged drug smugglers as part of its action against drug trafficking. Ashwani Kumar’s house was also demolished on the grounds of his alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

It may be recalled that Parvinder Singh Jhota was shot dead on Tuesday in Mansa following a heated dispute over drugs at a chemist shop.

Meanwhile, protesters in Mansa continue their indefinite sit-in demonstration, demanding justice for the deceased leader. To ensure the smooth conduct of the protest and present their demands before the administration, the protesters have also formed a special committee, which is holding discussions with administrative officials.
